Our retro gaming exhibitions are a place where parents and children connect through play.
The inaugural Hong Kong Retro Expo debuted in Central in 2015, immediately capturing public attention. Riding the wave of the global retro gaming trend, the second expo moved to the Hong Kong Polytechnic University to further promote game conservation, drawing over 10,000 visitors in just one week.In addition to showcasing rare and iconic consoles from the past, the event featured free-play stations. This allowed visitors to experience the "retro vibe" firsthand, revisiting the evolution of gaming history with their friends and family.
Guided by the principles of "Turning Waste into Treasure" and "Gaming Equality", the Hong Kong Retro Expo officially registered as a Hong Kong Section 88 charitable organization under the name "The Videogame Foundation". We are committed to collecting old consoles, vintage televisions, and gaming magazines, restoring these pieces of history so they can be enjoyed by future generations.
Turning Waste into Treasure: The Recycling Program
We operate a dedicated collection and storage center where the public can donate vintage consoles, game discs, CRT televisions, and related memorabilia (such as magazines). These donations support our non-profit environmental protection efforts.
Once processed and archived, these items serve as historical records for academic research. Furthermore, we provide refurbished equipment for the public to play free of charge, ensuring that every adult and child has the right to enjoy the world of gaming.
